1. In plain words
We build LayerAdapt carefully: it never edits sensitive files, keeps versions so changes can be undone, encrypts your passwords and records changes in an audit log. Even so, no software is perfect, and LayerAdapt acts on systems and instructions that you control. So we ask you to check what it prepares, keep your own backups, and only connect what you are allowed to connect. Where something goes wrong because of our own failure to take reasonable care, we take responsibility as the law requires. Where it goes wrong for reasons outside our control, we cannot.
2. What we take responsibility for
- Providing LayerAdapt with reasonable care and skill.
- Protecting the data we store with appropriate security measures, as described on our Security and Data handling pages.
- Describing honestly what LayerAdapt accesses, stores and changes.
- Telling you without undue delay if we become aware of a security incident that affects your data, and helping you respond.
- Meeting our obligations under the privacy and consumer laws that apply to us.
3. Early access, as it is
LayerAdapt is in early access. To the extent permitted by law, it is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will always be available, be free of errors, find every piece of content on your website, or suit every website, database or business. Features may change.
4. Your connected systems
LayerAdapt works with the websites, hosting accounts and databases you connect, using the access you give it. You stay responsible for:
- making sure you own or are authorized to connect and process those systems and the data in them;
- the credentials and permissions you give LayerAdapt, and keeping them private;
- keeping backups of your website and database where appropriate;
- reviewing changes before you publish or approve them;
- what you, your team and the people you invite do in LayerAdapt;
- how your hosting, your database and your website's own code behave.
LayerAdapt does not automatically know what your systems contain, who owns them, or whether you are allowed to connect them, unless that is given to it through the product.
5. AI output
LayerAdapt uses AI to analyze website content, suggest names for database tables and answer questions. AI output can be incomplete or wrong, even when it sounds certain. LayerAdapt checks AI suggestions against your actual content, fields and permissions, and changes the AI proposes need a person's approval. Still, you should review AI output before relying on it, and you remain responsible for decisions you make based on it.
6. Security
We take security seriously, but no system connected to the internet can be made completely secure, and we do not claim that LayerAdapt is. Your security also depends on things we do not control, such as the strength of your passwords, whether multi-factor authentication is on for your hosting and email, the permissions of the accounts you connect, and the security of your hosting and database providers. See our recommendations on the Data handling page.
7. Third-party services
LayerAdapt depends on services run by others, including your hosting company, your database provider, our server and email providers, Anthropic (AI) and, if you use it, Google (sign-in). We are not responsible for their outages, errors, security failures or changes to how they work, although we choose our own providers carefully and will help where we can.
8. Not professional advice
Information on our website, in LayerAdapt and in AI answers is general information. It is not legal, financial, tax, security or other professional advice. Get advice from a qualified professional for decisions that need it.
9. Limits of liability
To the extent permitted by law, LayerAdapt is not liable for:
- indirect or consequential losses, or loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or opportunities;
- loss or corruption of data, where it could have been avoided by keeping the backups this page and our terms ask you to keep, or where it was caused by something outside our reasonable control;
- unauthorized connections or access made with your credentials, or through accounts, hosting or databases you control;
- misuse of LayerAdapt by you, your team or anyone using your accounts;
- incorrect configuration, permissions or access modes chosen by you or your team;
- failures, outages or changes of third-party services, including hosting, database, email and AI providers;
- the consequences of actions taken by you, your team or your connected systems, including changes you published or approved and decisions based on AI output;
- events beyond our reasonable control, such as network failures, attacks on internet infrastructure or natural events.
Where our liability can lawfully be limited, it is limited to losses that were reasonably foreseeable when you started using LayerAdapt and that were caused by our failure to take reasonable care. Specific financial limits will be set out in the final terms reviewed before launch.
10. What is not limited
Nothing on this page or in our Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing here affects your rights as a consumer, where consumer law applies to you, or our obligations under data protection law.
11. Links to other websites
Our website and LayerAdapt may link to other websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or how they handle your data.
