1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to keep and send back on your next visit. Browsers also offer similar storage areas called local storage and session storage, which a page can read but which are not sent to the server. This page covers all of them.
2. The cookie we use
| Name | Purpose | Type | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| aos_session | Keeps you signed in to LayerAdapt. It holds a random code; our server stores only a hashed copy of it, linked to your session. | Strictly necessary, first-party | Up to 14 days, or until you sign out |
This cookie is set only when you sign in, accept an invitation, or place an order that creates your account. It is marked HttpOnly (scripts on the page cannot read it), SameSite=Lax (other websites cannot make your browser send it along with their requests in the background), and Secure on our live site (it is only sent over encrypted connections). Signing out ends the session and clears the cookie.
Because LayerAdapt cannot sign you in without it, this cookie is strictly necessary and does not need your consent under most cookie laws.
3. What we keep in your browser
These items stay in your browser. They are not sent to our server automatically and contain no tracking identifiers.
| Name | Where | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| aos-cart | Local storage, on our public website | Remembers the plan you picked on the pricing page while you go to checkout. | Until the cart is emptied or you clear your browser data |
| aos-theme | Local storage, in the LayerAdapt app | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark look. | Until you change it or clear your browser data |
| aos-website-job | Session storage, in the LayerAdapt app | Lets the page keep showing the progress of a website import or preparation if you reload. | Removed when the task finishes or you close the tab |
If your browser blocks storage (for example in private mode), these features still work for the current page; they just will not be remembered.
4. What we do not use
- No analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics) on layeradapt.com or in the LayerAdapt app.
- No advertising or retargeting cookies, and no social media tracking pixels.
- No third-party scripts or fonts loaded from other companies' servers. Our fonts are served from our own server.
If we ever want to add anything that is not strictly necessary, we will update this page first and ask for your agreement where the law requires it.
5. Other websites
Some links take you to other services, such as WhatsApp from our contact details. Nothing from those services loads until you click. Once you are on their site, their own cookie policies apply.
When you choose Sign in with Google, you are taken to Google's sign-in page, where Google's own cookies and policies apply. Google then sends you back to LayerAdapt, which sets only the sign-in cookie described above.
6. Your own website
The pages LayerAdapt prepares for your website do not set any cookies on your visitors' devices. Dynamic pages fetch their content from LayerAdapt through your hosting server, not through your visitors' browsers, so your visitors' browsers do not contact LayerAdapt for that content.
If you enter a Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager ID in your website's search settings, LayerAdapt adds that tracking code to your pages because you asked it to. That code may set cookies on your visitors' devices. Your own website is your responsibility: you decide whether to use such tools and must give your visitors the information and choices the law requires, such as a cookie banner.
7. Your choices
- You can delete cookies and stored site data at any time in your browser's settings. Deleting the aos_session cookie signs you out.
- You can block cookies for layeradapt.com, but then you will not be able to sign in to LayerAdapt.
- Most browsers' help pages explain how; search for "clear cookies" with your browser's name.
8. Changes and contact
We will update this page if what we store in your browser changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. For more on how we handle personal information, see our Privacy Policy. Questions: support@layeradapt.com.
